Cordero San Giorgio
Cordero San Giorgio is a historic estate in Santa Giuletta, in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese hills of Lombardy, with a panorama stretching from the Alps to the Apennines. The property is home to a 16th-century crenelated tower built by the Marquis Sauli of Genoa, along with a beautifully preserved underground cellar. Today the estate is run by siblings Francesco, Lorenzo, and Caterina Cordero, who bring a winemaking heritage rooted in Piedmont's Langhe region, as grandchildren of Luciana Vietti and Alfredo Currado of the renowned Vietti estate in Barolo. Having trained in wineries across France, the United States, and New Zealand, the three siblings have brought a refined, contemporary approach to Oltrepò Pavese winemaking, while staying true to the values instilled by their family's long history in the Langhe.
The estate extends over approximately 22 hectares, around twenty of which are old vines averaging 35 years of age, farmed sustainably with minimal environmental impact. The remaining land is home to a centuries-old oak and cherry forest, preserved by the family as an essential part of the property's ecosystem. Cordero San Giorgio's clay-rich soils and cool hillside climate are particularly suited to Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, the estate's signature varieties, producing wines of freshness, elegance, and purity of fruit. Guided by the same precision and respect for terroir that shaped generations of Cordero winemaking in the Langhe, Francesco, Lorenzo, and Caterina continue to write a new chapter for their family's legacy in the Oltrepò Pavese.
